So I haven’t blogged in way too long, I apologise to my followers, life hasn’t exactly been easy this past month or so.
I’ll make this a short(ish post, and then we can resume our regularly scheduled (every so often) posting.
Firstly I Saw the Corrs at Blenheim Palace. It was fantastic, up to and including the craziness of a picnic in the pouring rain.
I have visited my best friend in Cornwall, a really relaxing trip, and much needed as I was cracking under the strain of:
Mum had a nervous breakdown. It manifested as a full on psychotic break, and I had to get the police out looking for her no less than twice before the medication took hold, and it took a week to get her to go to a doctors in the first place.
This resulted in me having a melt-down, not quite as spectacular as mums. I basically wanted to shut down and re start. So I was signed off for just over a week. I SLEPT. It was wonderful. My medication for my depression was doubled, it’s working. When I was minimally functional, I pottered about in the allotment, did a ittle Pokemon Go, met a friend for a coffee, and read. It really helped that mum was well enough to have gone off to work or I don’t think I’d have relaxed as well.
I also went to the latest Ripper’s LARP (Oxford after Midnight) which was fun and badly needed mild escapism.
My brother and Niece visited while I was in the middle of my meltdown, but before I got signed off. It didn’t help it was the hottest week we’ve had this year. It was fun though, as much as I was able to appreciate it.
I went back to work last Monday, did a four day week, and had Friday off to attend Emma Newman’s book launch and birthday party. It was fantastic. Emma and Pete are so lovely and it was great to see the rest of the LARPers again, and catch up. The rest of this weekend involved reading the book, which was fantastic (Go Read the Split Worlds – it’s fantastic social horror/urban fantasy, also I spent saturday at work – I had to make up for taking Friday off.
So, ALL the stress, all the breaking and needing fixing. I’m back on form now though, and my creative mojo is back too :D
This coming weekend I’m in London at the 9 Worlds so expect a long post about how awesome that was on Monday!
