Well I had a really good weekend.
I finished early on Friday, did some shopping and went home. I had a quiet evening reading and lounging, and felt unexpectedly exhausted about 8pm, so went to bed early. A good thing I did.
I got woken up insanely early when Wentworth hopped on the bed at 4am for snuggles. He also wanted food, but he came back for snuggles so it wasn’t entirely mercenary and we snuggled for ages. I got up about six as my friend Zoe who was supposed to be coming over about 12ish asked to come over earlier so she could take advantage of a lift from her boyfriend Joe. She arrived about half 8, but I’d been productive, mostly tidying things like my sewing away, and having some breakfast (pancakes!) and watching TV shows that I haven’t had time to see like Jericho on BBC. I was just starting on the pie that was meant for dinner when she arrived. We made the pie, and watched Disney films. I also did some art and made vegan Pho for lunch (delicious!) Zoe hadn’t gotten much sleep, and I wasn’t feeling very active so it was quite a lazy day. We watched Treasure Planet, Wreck it Ralf, Lilo & Stitch and Big Hero 6. I also did a bit more work on my bunny seven deadly sins pieces of art. (lust is tasteful! honest!). There was a minor hiccup in the evening plans (Joe was supposed to join us with Russ after work but the car failed it’s MOT, so another friend was added to the Gathering, and I met a guy called Joel who Joe Zoe & Russ have known since secondary school.
Russ was delighted with the cushion I’d sewed for him (it’s taken him four months to be free to come and pick it up!). It is an applique cushion of the Legend of the Five Rings Dragon Mon. Joel was a nice guy. Everyone enjoyed the pie which was gratifying as it was vegan and experimental, and Joe brought a plum and cinnamon crumble which tasted amazing. We played a couple of games of Magic the Gathering, talked magic the gathering and erm…other things. I love Russ dearly but conversations tend to get a bit…odd…around him. He is a great and lovely guy but quite a free spirit. So conversation went from dating to sites to a website that deals with fetishists of which he is one (some of THOSE are deeply weird his are quite tame. I mean who has a fetish of someone stroking their nose?!?! (not one of his)- and that’s just one of the clean fetishes. some of them are just …ick.) But anyway we had a good laugh over them, and I suspect ‘I bet there’s a fetish for that’ will be cropping up at random intervals in conversation at points when it will be most amusing from now on. We (well Zoe) also came up with a username for Joel for a normal dating site and we agreed that we should all go to the pre release of Innistrad if we are free. They left about half ten-eleven ish, and I pretty much collapsed into bed.
I still woke quite early. Got up, dressed, had tea and started playing Extreme gardening: Lego edition. Also known as building the raised beds. It was bloody freezing out, and there were a few showers but I got two of the beds done. I have one more to build, and think I may need to acquire a fourth. Then I need to acquire all the mulch and soil ever to fill them. That took most of the day. I stopped about nine for plum crumble for breakfast (still yum!) had a baked spud as a late lunch about two. I listened to podcasts while I worked. Had a brief nap, and then did a bit of housework, and re stitched the regency pelisse bodice I’ve been working on. I’ll explain about that in a post soon I promise. I prepped my bag for the morning, had a nice hot bath and a fairly late night, as I watched the conclusion of War and Peace – a really excellent show. Gorgeous costumes.
